Biography

Paul Gonzenbach, who has also recorded under the name Baby Panda, is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the US. He has released five solo records, and three with Oakland band the Jim Yoshii Pile-up, for whom he played guitar, piano and sang before a 2006 hiatus.

Released under the name Baby Panda, his debut solo album 'Enforcer' arrived in June of 2007, and included a cover of Morrissey's 'Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together' played with wine glasses and piano. In January 2008, he released the 'Some Horrible Miracle' EP, which added electronic touches, and followed it up with a second full-length album - 'Avalanche Kiss' - in October.

In June 2010, Gonzenbach released an abrasive new full-length entitled 'Comfort', as well as an EP of new versions of Baby Panda tracks and covers called 'This Is Not Enough'. As of the release of Comfort, Gonzenbach decided to retire the Baby Panda moniker and record under his own name.

In September 2013, he released his first record in three years, called 'Notify Your Friends: Everything Ends', which was preceded by the single 'Timid Hearts'. That was followed up just eight months later with 2014's 'Secrets Spill Over'. written in between sessions for 'Notify'. Explaining the impetus behind the record, Gonzenbach said it was "about letting myself do what I think I do best".
