The fantasy-power-metal band Orden Ogan was founded by Sebastian Grütling (drums) and Sebastian Levermann (vocals, guitar) in 1996. They released two demos called "Into Oblivion" and "Anthem to the Dark Side" in 1997 and 98 and a year later they recorded their first self- financed and self- produced full-length "Soli Deo Gloria". • Freakin Awesome Band
  • Good new album, these guys pretty much showed BG what this thing is all about. [2]
  • returning to my tirade, i will say i enjoy orden ogan immensely, but to say they've "shown BG what this thing is all about"... no. nope
  • orden ogan comes to me as a recreation of the "golden age" of power metal, but that also is not what i look for in "power metal" in 2015. there is no ground being broken. you're appealing to the rosy tinted nostalgia of when certain acts moved you to a certain point. if you cannot listen to "The Holy Grail" or "Sacred Mind" and realize the talent and emotion of BG and, dare i say it, the appeal to the classic fan, you're lost. if orden ogan churned out the same shit for 10 albums straight they'd be criticized. BG are criticized for not churning out the same shit over and over. orden organ are essentially emulating a more choral savage circus, who were already imitating pre 1995 BG.. and while i love what orden ogan are doing, there's nothing novel about it. they'll either change up their approach to the genre, which they're doing fuckall to innovate, or they'll die off. doesn't seem like they're increasingly successful like BG, at least, even as their "hardcore" fans shit on them.
  • I' glad i discovered this band. After "weak" Blind Guardian album, Orden Ogan came, to save my life! Amazing new album, I can't get enough of it
