Agree with the comment below. It's kinda funny that people get so confused just because of few simple twists in a song. Mew don't really play overly technical music. Most of the time these are just pop-rock songs, more or less sophisticated.

It's not like they're a prog band or anything. But for a pop-rock/art-rock band, they get into some pretty complex rhythms and harmony. Just listen to the hi-hat in the chorus for Satellites, or the chord changes in the chorus of Witness. Not technical, but definitely more complex than your average pop song.

I don't think satellites is any complex. It's just barely above "frengers pop". I remember reading jonas say about beach "i keep reading about people saying beach is complex and shit.. i was trying to make a pop song, if that's not a pop song then i guess i don't know how to" or something like that. I believe frengers suffer from that delusion

I'm having the same feeling about this song that I had about Skyrim. I liked playing Skyrim, and I could see that it was a very meticulously crafted game... but it was *too* huge, *too* non-linear, and I found myself craving a simple "point a to point b" type of RPG like say.. Dragon Quest. Well, this song is just like that. I can tell that the songwriting is good, but it's too non-linear, too open ended for me to warmly accept it. Mew did accessible and progressive DAMN well with "And The Glass Handed Kites" and the follow-up No More Stories was a good progression while still staying somewhat accessible. "Satellites" moves further away from "accessible" to "what Mew wants to do, regardless of whether our fans can get into it or not" which is no bueno for me.
