Long-view is now the official (previous name Longview, having to change their name because of the much lesser known and same titled American bluegrass group) are an indie rock band from Winchester, England. Their debut album, Mercury, was released in July 2003. Their blend of powerful rock ballads have made them famous in the indie community.
They have released several singles (including ‘Further’ on three separate occasions). One of their most interesting and rare singles was a cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Stripped’ which was only available as a digital download or on limited edition vinyl.
The band are currently finishing work on their second album and the release date was expected to be around Autumn 2006. However there has been no word of the release on the official site as of yet so its looking a 2007 mid year release.
To accommodate fan impatience (as for some it has been almost 3 years since their purchase of ‘Mercury) the band began to upload new tracks onto their Myspace account. It was recorded in the studios at London Bridge, Seattle and at Rob’s flat in Manchester. Demos of new material have been uploaded onto the band’s Myspace account by Rob and Aidan. Future song titles include ‘Elysian Fields,’ ‘Why,’ ‘Signals,’ ‘Drive Faster,’ Run off the Tracks,’ and ‘Happiness in Loneliness’. The new material suggests a continuation in the band’s ability to produce divine melodic rock music with epic choruses and including influences from folk, rock, alternative and progressive rock.

Here is an interview that Ulrich Schnauss did back in April. http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4136605 He mentions Longview a few times and says that the second album is near completion. Then again, that was back in April and I haven't heard anything since. Hopefully by now it's done and they're going to release it soon.

i saw these guys play at the oxford zodiac [now an o2 academy] back in 2006, i'd heard them before that and they were INCREDIBLE live. was lucky enough to meet rob after the show whom had a quick chat with and he signed my poster for me - what a decent and down-to-earth man! 'can't explain' is an fantastically beautiful and very underrated song, definitely my favourite. 'electricity', 'still', 'further', 'i would' and the heartwrenching 'if you asked' are also brilliant. it's a crying shame these guys didn't make it as big as they could have. is there any news whatsoever on the prospective second album?
