Screw all 'this is not so epic' opinions, this theme makes me wanna stand up and shout to heavens. There is no theme that did that before, at least not so much.

So I've seen walls of text so that must make that the Great Wall of Text.

That is how the taste grows. To understand how your opinions and the way you feel about certain subjects twists and changes. I haven't heard Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity and I don't claim that the morrowind theme is superb because it's original or something. Jeremy Soule is known for over-using certain melodic patterns or sometimes just simply to steal from his older ideas. I admire it for its' accomplished tranquility, the fragile balance of the dynamics/movement of the melody and its' melancholic mood emerging into more energic moment into spontaneus urgency. It's not as artificial as dragonborn, which is unnaturally connected with the older melody, resulting in shallow pastiche.

And when I think something is good, it's not just because I say that is good, it's not because that I just simply enjoy it, it's because I try to look at it through the eyes of a critic. If I see flaws, things which upon hearing evokes thoughts like "this could have been better if they would have done it that way...etc". I just simply don't want to be a zealous fan, being blind and deaf. I try to rationalize my opinions, analyze possibilities and that first comment of mine was just a sarcastic comment and you know that. My second comment here was dealing with the issue of "why I don't like it". About light & dark: without bad music, you simply won't identify some music as being better than other stuff. Simple as that. "Good old days" is based on a thought that your past memories and accomplishments are distorting over time. Have you ever liked something as a child, drew upon the nostalgy and then one day, after another encounter with it, you've realized that the thing wasn't so good?

Kitsch is a package of pre-prepared emotions presented in many movies or popular music, it draws it's origin from art, but makes a cheap impression of it, squeezes the context, removes the authenticity, the original thought and packs it into dirty shallowness, a realm where the recipient doesn't have to search, to find the impression. I listen to what I LIKE. That doesn't mean it's automatically good. You may say: why someone should listen to something the do not find good? I don't think all music is on the same level. Sometimes I listen to something which demands concentration, sometimes I listen to kitsch, because I am in need of a preserved package of certain emotion, sometimes I listen to something harsh, because I need to clear my head that way. And I am still speaking about tip of an iceberg. There is good music I am not listening to, because I find it to be out of my spectrum of interest or because I do not feel, that I am on that level yet, to enjoy such music.

Experience teaches us to choose, to think, to rethink old thoughts, decisions, to grow, to reflect upon ourselves. Being open-minded doesn't mean, that I would like everything or that I wouldn't criticise anything. Being open-minded means to approach something without prejudices as much as possible, without opinion based on assumptions without experiencing the subject of that opinion. I think I am open-minded, there are many things I like, there is lot of music I like, from very different corners of the world and minds. Every opinion is subjective, there is no objective opinion, that would be an oxymoron. The strength of opinion is based on arguments, provided facts or inner logic of the presented though. There is kitsch, there is cliche, there is art, sometimes it's hard to understand, to process, but that's the reason why taste matters.

Have you heard the term "the good old days"? Have you thought about it? Is it because today lacks originality? Or is it because you were young and OPEN-MINDED then? /--/--/ "I can just simply wrote "this song is horrible/this song sucks". But I simply don't. Because that's cheap." --- "*tear* what have this drunk bunch of singing hairy geeks done with my morrowind theme? A cheap kitschy unsuitable beer karaoke?! :(" /--/--/ I did listen to the Morrowind theme, I liked it. I like this theme too. Is the Morrowind theme original? Have you heard "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets"?

Instead of an elitist, what could you be? Open-minded, for starters. If experience teaches us anything, it's close-mindedness. /--/--/ You stated that taste isn't something you're born with - in other words it's something you're being taught. If it's something you're taught, it's absolutely relative. It's nothing but subjective opinion. Yes, there's a reason for every opinion, but your reasons can only reflect upon your experiences. /--/--/ You are not wrong for disliking. You do not have a bad taste in music. You do what you THINK is right. You listen to what you THINK is good. Opinion is not objective. /--/--/ "[..] as without dark there is no light," so, for good music to exist, there HAS to be bad music? Does that even make sense to you? /--/--/ "I have an opinion [..] opposite to the majority," I did not bring this up, you did. Why does this matter in any way?

I am not just disliking, I try to be reasonable and even provide details why I dislike it and offer an alternative (Morrowind theme). I can just simply wrote "this song is horrible/this song sucks". But I simply don't. Because that's cheap. And yeah I have an opinion that is in this case opposite to the majority, is that so hard to accept?

@callhermolly: Of course I am elitist! what else could I be, right? I am not going to be right, because so many people like this, so I am obviously wrong, is that it? Or it's wrong for me to logically assume that if not all the people are good at math, or good at sports, not everyone has a good taste and like the above mentioned, that the taste has to be cultivated, that it has to grow? You think that disliking is bad or wrong? Without disliking there is no liking, as without dark there is no light. To put it less philosophicaly, taste is about being able to choose and not to absorb that, which is put before your nose. It's easy to picture me as a hater, as an elitist, it's harder to imagine that the stuff I am critical about is not that good, even harder is to realize that I tried to make a point, why I don't like something and to try out this "Morrowind music" I am talking about.

@Last_jedi: spoken like a true taste elitist - good for you, I hope disliking things makes your life better. If you bought this game expecting something entirely different, why not demand a refund? Complaining here doesn't do any good, does it?

@farizbjorn: "Epicness" depends on how many "epic" songs have you experienced so far, on how critical is your approach to music, how demanding you are as a customer/listener. How much thought you want to hear in the music you're listening to. Taste is not something you're born with. Taste is something that has to be sown, something that has to be nourished and put to test often. That's the only way it grows. Through experience.
