Ex-Pedro the Lion band members TW Walsh and David Bazan take on the synths for their new indie pop project with Starflyer 59’s Frank Lenz joining the fray. Absent of traditional guitar/bass instrumentation, Bazan’s deep vocal tones take centre stage, equally soothing and macabre. The dystopian parables of love, loss and loyalty uplift and upset on their self-titled debut. The record utilises open room recording with digital and analogue effects.

Headphones are treading similar territory to established bands like Say Hi To Your Mom and The Most Serene Republic.

Saw him last night. Played the album front to back and it was probably the best time I've ever seen him. New album will sound similar but just not under the 'Headphones' name.

I've heard Bazan say twice that there will not be another Headphones record for financial reasons, this one just didn't sell even a 10th as well as Achilles Heel did. But he did say that the next solo record is going to sound very Headphones-ish. And his last one kinda does as well.

I recently became aware of some sort of B-side/bonus track called "The Five Chord"... Would anybody be willing to send it to me or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I love that David plays headphones on his liveshows, the show in Stockholm is one of the best shows I've ever been to. about 30 people in couches and David in front of a fireplace dvd on a big screen. It was pure magic.
