Biography

There are 2 bands by this name:

1. Drowning Pool is a / band from Dallas, Texas formed in 1997 that rose to prominence while playing along with Ozzy Osbourne during Ozzfest. Their 2001 debut album, Sinner, was certified platinum within six months and the video for its first single “Bodies” was frequently aired on various music video channels. After the September 11th attacks the song “Bodies” was infrequently heard on many radio stations due to the sensitivity of those families’ loved ones who jumped from the towers. In August 2002 the lead singer of the band, Dave Williams, died in his tour bus of heart failure.

After Williams’ death, the band decided to carry on and began searching for a new singer.

In 2003, the band found a new singer in Jason Jones who took place of Dave Williams in the wake of his untimely death. They released the album Desensitized in 2004.

Jason’s departure from Drowning Pool was publically announced on June 14, 2005, due to irreconcilable differences. Jones would later join the christian rock band A.M. Conspiracy. Almost immediately, rumours started swirling concerning the new singer’s identity, most of them pointing to former SOiL singer Ryan McCombs. Drowning Pool announced that the singer would be formally announced August 25 at the Ozzfest date in Dallas, Texas, where Drowning Pool will do a one off performance on the main stage. On July 20th, website SMNNews received word from close sources that McCombs was indeed the new singer, and that fact was confirmed by McCombs and Drowning Pool alike the next week.

In spring of 2006, Drowning Pool announced that they had parted ways with Wind-Up Records. As of June 30th, Wind-Up’s website has been updated to confirm this.

Check out the interview with Drowning Pool in issue 76 of Black Velvet. Stevie Benton tells us how they're able to write what feels natural with new vocalist Jasen Moreno, how Jasen lights up the crowd so much they call it 'Moreno Mania', how he wants to learn the sleeper hold from Fozzy's Chris Jericho, and how letting Drowning Pool end would mean closing the book on Dave, which they won't do.

That sounded more like a promotion of the singles rather than a simple statement of an opinion, lol.

"v Did DP pay you to write that? OFAAF and Saturday Night are easily the worst songs on the album." The hell? Do you know what an "opinion" is? It means he can like any of the songs as his favorite. By the way, my favorite is Bleed With You. Such power and feels in it.

The band this time round feel fresh & new, together with a new vocalist Jasen Monero, who has definitely set & influenced the bands tone & image. They have together created a new sound for the band Drowning Pool, which is more current, energetic & without damaging the old songs, which i personally find Jasen doing a great job of singing. They bring a new energy, which is a more sexy rock mannerism Drowning Pool hasn't executed before. The "One Finger & a Fist" song is a great introduction for the band,(ignore the girls in the video, you won't visually feel the aggression needed for this song).Though,i think the new bands sound and manifesto comes out from the song "Saturday Night".I am estatic that Drowning Pool have picked Jasen Monero as the new singer, you can tell that the guys have synergy, they have a great time together on stage & is a performance not to miss out on.Their performance is tight, their presence prevailing,no less then to expect of this band. And i wish them the best of luck.

I like the new album. I think "Resilience" is the best album since "Sinner".

I would surely argue that Resilience is more powerful than Sinner.

Not really. "Sinner" was just more powerful and darker than "Resilience". I wish they'll do their next album more similar to "Sinner", but with Jason's vocals. Just imagine it.
