Dallas, Texas, United States (1995 – present)

Devourment is a band that was formed in 1995 after the demise of local Dallas based death metal band Necrocide by drummer Brad Fincher and guitarist Braxton Henry (both from Necrocide) along with vocalist Wayne Knupp.

Wayne decided to move back to his hometown of Chicago, Brad moved to San Antonio, TX to get his education. Months later both Wayne and Brad moved back to the Dallas area and decided to continue the life of the band. However, Braxton Henry had in the meantime already formed a band known as DeadIndustry. Luckily Wayne knew Brian “Brain” Wynn who he used to actually play with a few years before. So after finally contacting him, Brain was introduced to the band whom musically, he clicked with instantaneously.

Soon the trio put out a 2-song promo, which featured Shroud Of Encryption and Festering Vomitous Mass. Several months later with the additions of then guitarist of Sintury Kevin Clark, and underground artist Mike Majewski, Devourment recorded one more song, Choking On Bile, which would be added to the 2-song promo resulting in the 1997 demo released by Corpsegristle Records that gained such a tremendous fan base. The demo would be entitled Impaled.

Wayne Knupp decided to leave the band due to some internal problems leading up to and during the trip to New York. Brain phoned Wayne and fired him from the band as soon as Wayne got back from being left in New York by the band. The band would have a hard time finding a new vocalist, somebody who could most importantly, compare with Wayne’s brutal vocal.

I took a break from listening to them for a couple years or so. I actually got back into 'em last year. Kill That Fucking Bitch is an outstanding song that needs to be re-recorded.

They can re-record Kill That Fucking Bitch, at least.

I don't know if I should be happy or sad about the line-up change. Mike did an awesome job. On the other hand, Ruben has some of the best vocals ever. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hear some new material with Ruben back on vocals. [2] and I hope their next album will be so much better than Conceived in Sewage.

Anyone know where to get some Devourment albums for not $30-$40? I only have Conceived in Sewage and I don't download, only buy.

What do you mean? Mike left? No waaay. Seriously Unleash The Carnivore is fucking awesome and easily on par with Butcher The Weak. Last Album was a little weak, Mikes Vocals were awesome though. Also, i really really love the rerecorded version of Butcher The Weak. Mike leaving the band would make me a sad panda.

Two last albums was awful. Now when Mike leave the band and Ruden again on vocals, with Brad on drums, they should bring back the true Devo-style (Molesting the Decapitated era).

@rackshasaa: I just mean that they should re-repress these albums, but not compromise the sound of these albums.

Butcher The Weak was reissued by Brutal Bands and it was perfect and MtD is already perfect.

Conceived In Sewage is great. Great guitar work, great production, excellent vocals and awesome slams. Now what Relapse Records NEEDS to do is re-issue Butcher the Weak, 1.3.8 and Molesting the Decapitated already.

Yes. But it's not only the sound. I will not say Conceived In Sewage is shit, because it totally is a good death metal album, but it lacks the athmosphere of the older stuff. The Riffs, the lyrics, the sound, everything is a bit less sick and morbid. I mean has anyone ever read the lyrics to stuff like anal electrocution? This shit is so over the top, it's actually extremely funny.
