However, they found it difficult to source children from local schools to sing about slit throats and hungry rats, and instead used child actors, adult singers who could imitate children, and the children of their friends. Instruments included violins, detuned and distorted guitars, and a "whaler stomp" achieved by the team stamping on wooden boards to create a pulse sound.
