Los Angeles, United States (2009 – present)

Chelsea Wolfe is a singer/songwriter and eponymous full band started in 2009 out of Los Angeles, California. Her style has been described as “”, and her music has been described as a “specific brand of drone-metal-art-folk”.

Inspired by the dark state of the world and the strange connection between all things, she creates a unique musical blend of , and spiritual realm funeral songs. With influences ranging from the great minds of Ingmar Bergman and David Lynch, to soviets and end-times literature, her songs conjure visions of other dimensions, claustrophobic echo-rooms and parking garage cathedrals.

Wolfe has recorded three full length albums, The Grime and the Glow, released December 28, 2010 on limited vinyl through Brooklyn’s Pendu Sound, Ἀποκάλυψις (pronounced “Apokalypsis”), which was released as a 12” LP on August 23, 2011, and her latest record, Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs, released in October, 2012.

    @Oll__Korrekt In a review at Peek-a-boo magazine it says 'Before Chelsea Wolfe took the stage, there was a tape playing the dark and lyrical music of the Polish composer Henryk Górecki.' Maybe this is the music you're looking for?

    I attended Chelsea gig and before the band entered the stage an operatic intro had been played as a phonogram. I am not sure whether it was an actual opera piece or some sort of darkwave band. Do you guys happen to know what piece/band is it exactly?
