The Soul /Jazz funk group Cache hailed from Leeds and London and changed their name from Clique to Cache after winning the Black Echos "Best UK Soul and Funk Band Search" at the legendary Hammersmith Palais in London in 1979.
The main members of the band were Roman Pryce (Rhythm and Lead Guitar) Leslie Coleman (Drums and Persussion) Don (Damel) Carayol (Lead Vocals and Soprano Sax) Llowell (Bee) Williams (Vocals and Alto Sax) Grantley Stoute (Tenor Sax) Chris Buckley (Keyboards) and Joseph Mills (Bass Guitar and backing Vocals).
On return from a Scandinavian tour the band cut several tracks at the Pennine Sound Studios in Manchester where the classic "Love will Tear us Apart" was recorded by the Joy Division. Two tracks from that recording session "Where is My Sunshine" and "Jazzin and Cruisin" were immediately taken up by the Groove Record label in Soho London and released in 1981.
The band was championed by members of the Soul Mafia, DJ's Pete Tong,Chris Brown, and Froggy , and accompanied those DJ's at a host of London club venues such as the "Royalty"-Southgate, "The Beat Route" "Gullivers" and Caister, delivering a number of personal appearances that propelled the band into both the Black Echos and Radio Luxembourg soul and funk charts.Ultimately, the band failed to enter the top 40 of the National charts leading to various members pursuing solo/production projects with artists such as "Kwest", "Finley Quaye", Nerious Joseph,"Gnarles Barkley" and "Toots Hibbert".
Cache are currently working on a series of mixes of "Where is my Sunshine" for the summer of 2014.
