Biography

Philadelphia, United States (1991 – present)

Bardo Pond are an American band from Philadelphia, formed in 1991, and who are currently signed to London based label Fire Records. The current members are Michael Gibbons (guitar), John Gibbons (guitar), Isobel Sollenberger (flute and vocals), Clint Takeda (bass guitar), Jason Kourkonis (drums), and Aaron Igler (synth/electronics). Bardo Pond’s drug-inspired music is often classified as , , , , or . Many Bardo Pond album titles have been derived from the names of esoteric psychedelic substances. Their sound has been likened to Pink Floyd, Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine.

Allmusic describes Bardo Pond as having “lengthy, deliberate sound explorations filled with all the hallmarks of modern-day : droning guitars, thick distortion, feedback, reverb, and washes of white noise.” Bardo Pond are a taper-friendly band who encourage fans to make recordings of their shows.

the comment is reminiscent of a retorting artist who is trying to enrapture the idolisation of a once-revered and intrinsically written (?) set of compositions, whilst not retaining the ideas and principles to propel any future incorporations (?) into the next iota.

Or at least my wondering what "bardo" meant would have been forgotten by the time I had the means to look it up without the internet.

"I rather enjoy a lot of Bardo Pond albums, but they all sound so similar. In the 15+ years they've been around their sound has hardly changed at all." Guess who will complain about the band changing sound and direction.

My copy definitely says "The Cawl" on the insert, but since the Southern/Latitudes site seems to call it "The Crawl" everywhere else I'm gonna hazard a guess that that is a typo.
