There is more than one artist with this name.
Loop was a South London band founded in 1986 by Robert Hampson and his then wife, Bex. Loop’s sound was characterized by strong kraut rock and avant garde influences in addition to the minimalist mayhem of The Stooges and MC5.
Their songs were almost uniformly harsh and repetitive, with indecipherable vocals buried under layers of noisy guitar riffs and metronomic drumming. Some of the records featured covers of Suicide, The Pop Group and Can as bonus tracks.
Between 1986 and 1991, the band released three LPs, several singles, appeared on numerous compilations, and a John Peel session, “Wolf Flow.” They are and were often compared to fellow drone-rockers Spacemen 3, and in many ways were overshadowed by them. Sonic Boom even supposedly accused Loop of stealing their sound from his band, although this claim was contested both by Loop and the UK music press.
After the band split, Hampson joined Godflesh briefly, playing on their album “Pure”, and simultaineously formed Main with Dawson. Wills and MacKay went on to form The Hair and Skin Trading Company. John Wills is now recording under the name of Pumajaw with Pinkie Maclure whom he’d previously worked with under the name Lumen. MacKay has released work as Juicy Eureka and under his own name.

I got super-lucky and learned about this band kind of retroactively after finding one of their records which looked interesting. A great risk buying it, if you enjoy Loop, definitely check out Hair & Skin Trading Company. "Over Valance" is one of my favorite albums, ever. Love both bands.

Fade Out kicks A Gilded Eternity's arse for me. The sound is so much better. Dunno why people are saying underrated though. They were one of the prime movers of the late 80s UK indie scene. They sold, concerts were sell outs and got the critical raves, in indie terms of course.

a gilded eternity is the darkest album influenced by pop I've heard since an electric storm by white noise (minus the menacing sense of humor derbyshire displayed), merciless bad-trip psych rock with a great futuristic edge easily takes pure rock & roll into the future
