Back Door Slam are a blues band from the Isle of Man. Originally a four piece - with their friend Brian Garvey on rhythm guitar, who was tragically killed in a car accident as a teenager - they then played together as a three piece for a year or so with the line up Davy Knowles (guitars, vocal, songs), Jamie Armstrong (bass) and Ross Doyle (drums). In 2007, Jamie left to pursue a career in music engineering, and mutual school friend Adam Jones replaced him on bass. The band then headed to America and played 310 dates in support of debut album ‘Roll Away’. On the 27th January 2009 Davy, Ross and Adam parted ways, but Davy continues to write and record under the moniker ‘Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam’.

The follow up album to ‘Roll Away’ has been produced by Peter Frampton and will be available Summer 09.

Their influences included Robert Cray (a track of whose their name was taken from), Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, and Howlin’ Wolf as well as Rory Gallagher, Bert Jansch, and Mark Knopfler.

They were signed in February 2007 to Blix Street Records and have since played many venues worldwide, including SXSW 2007, where they performed again in 2008.
