Oakland, San Francisco CA, United States (2002 – present)

All Shall Perish is a quintet from Oakland, California formed in 2002, and are consistently cited by critics as one of the best bands in the genre. All Shall Perish combines various genres, including death metal, deathgrind and metalcore. Since 2005, All Shall Perish have delivered three records off of Nuclear Blast. The debut album, Hate, Malice, Revenge, was originally released by Japanese record label Amputated Vein Records in 2003. In 2005, it was re-released by Nuclear Blast and since then has received mostly underground acclaim. In 2006, The Price of Existence was released to largely positive critical reaction. The first single, “Eradication”, was made into a video and is played on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball.

Guitarist Caysen Russo and vocalist Craig Betit only appear on the band’s first studio album, they were both replaced, respectively, with Chris Storey and Hernan “Eddie” Hermida by the time of their second release.

Matt Kuykendall has commented on the origin of the band’s name, how he came up with it: “Sitting in my room in Berkeley, California, reading news websites and thinking about the fucked up shit going on in the world and my own life at the time. The name itself is a simple truism, but it’s something that we all too easily forget.”

I don't understand why HMR gets so much shit, It's always the album I go back to when I want to listen to these guys.

I really hope that ASP can regroup and move on post-Eddie Hermida. They have a lot of potential and I hope Mike Tiner can pull it back together.

TheArtOfShred is correct, ASP never were full-on grindcore/deathgrind, the only album that contains some grindish moments is HMR, but that album is a pioneering deathcore however just because they were using different elements from different metal scenes into one solid package.... there's some typical american 90s death metal moments, there's some old school melodic swedish death metal, there's some deathgrind, some 90's american metallic hardcore riffs and breakdowns, etc.... I love HMR, imo their best album... and like I said, it's one hell of a pioneering album; it's the 'Scream Bloody Gore' of deathcore so to speak...

I've listened to all their albums multiple times and the only one that had some grind elements is H.M.R. and even then it's very little. To actually be grind you have to have at least A BIT of old school hardcore influence in your music; Black Flag, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, Discharge, D.R.I.'s early stuff just to name a few examples and these guys don't have any of that. Nonetheless, as I said HMR had some grind thrown in there. To be honest, the only ASP album I really like is Awaken the Dreamers. HMR was meh, The Price of Existence was pretty decent and This is Where it Ends was decent. in my opinion anyway

Using wikipedia to see a band's information is like going to Big Lots and trying to get a top of the line Flat Screen TV.
