i've seen them five time now, and for the life of me i couldn't tell you which was the best or my favorite, because each has been very unique and an altogether amazing experience. tonight was no exception. they played the following setlist: -The Fox, The Crow, The Cookie -Messes of Men -Goodbye, I! -Tie Me Up, Untie Me! -Leaf -Every Though a Thought of You -A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains -Cattail Down -C-Minor -The Beetle King on the Coconut Estate -O Porcupine -Son of a Widow -Allah, Allah, Allah which lasted almost an hour (very short breaks between songs if any), and then we called them back out for an encore which consisted of this: -Four Word Letter, Pt. 2 -Timothy Hay -In a Sweater Poorly Knit some of the songs (mainly King Beetle... and Sweater...) were hurting for their accompanying instruments, but they still sounded great.

Michale Weiss' girlfriend covered the piano parts when needed, Richard Mazzotta was as awesome as ever behind the kit, and Aaron was fantastic. several times he "updated" lyrics to be current with his life, such as in C-Minor, where he inserted "...and i'm still technically a virgin after nearly 30 years, and it gets easier the older i get" or something close to that. it was very cool and made the songs that much more intimate and raw. while i was a teensy bit chagrined at the lack of A-->B material, there's not a single song they played that i wish they had swapped out. any mewithoutYou setlist is perfect. plus i've seen them four other times, and hearing all the newer stuff was exactly satisfying. suffice to say, anyone worried that the shows won't be as explosive as years past, you can put your concerns to rest. they've lost none of their zeal or passion, and still put on you hell of a show.
