Mama Viol sometimes advertise themselves as "Progg för Generation X", where "progg" is the name of the Swedish political music movement of the 70's. This classification fits the band's mix of clever lyrics, often with a political or social theme, and their refusal to provide any simple answers to complex questions. If you don't understand Swedish you can just enjoy their guitar-based pop which has a wide spectrum of influences from traditional rock, folk music, and punk rock.
