better than Loop [1] they're very different projects with vastly differing end goals but Main is definitely the more refined and successful act overall

honestly part of what makes Dry Stone Feed EP > Motion Pool > the Firmament Series such a crazy sonic progression is that it directly beelines back to Loop's early 60s garage rock indebted, Spacemen 3-adjacent sound.

This is what The Stooges would sound like if you removed everything bar Ron Asheton's wah-wah and then heard it from the other-side of a black hole.

The industrial tag is nowhere to be seen... I feel like it's a central theme in most of their music

I'm all about this kind of music (ambient/drone/noise w guitars) but for some reason I'm having trouble getting into these guys.. A little too abstract for me I think. I have yet to listen to Hyrda-Calm or Hz tho

a worthy return with "Ablation." admirable that they aren't simply retreading but attempting to find their inimitable aesthetic in modern "crispy" recording technique. ails a bit from a slight sameness but the groundwork has been lain.

Ablation is great but I'm not sure there's that much to mark it out from other above-average "drone" releases. Maybe after a few more listens...

Blown has been one of my favourite songs for a long time. Hydracalm, along with Christoph de Babalon's "If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It", is one of those unique, single-minded albums that I am very pleased exist.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - "Motion Pool" was one of the last truly innovative rock guitar albums. Those of you who agree should join this group: http://www.last.fm/group/UK+Post-Rock
