Houkago Tea Time (放課後ティータイム) is a virtual band consisting of the five main characters of the anime series K-ON!: guitarists 平沢唯 (Yui Hirasawa, voiced by 豊崎愛生) and 中野梓 (Azusa Nakano, voiced by 竹達彩奈), bassist 秋山澪 (Mio Akiyama, voiced by 日笠陽子), drummer 田井中律 (Ritsu Tainaka, voiced by 佐藤聡美), and keyboardist 琴吹紬 (Tsumugi Kotobuki, voiced by 寿美菜子). The name translates into English as After School Tea Time, alluding to their main activity in the Light Music Club, where the band was formed. The first three singles – Cagayake!GIRLS, Don't say "lazy", and ふわふわ時間 ("Fuwafuwa Time") – are credited to 桜高軽音部 (Sakurakou K-ON Bu), the name of the light music club, as this was before they had a name. This was also prior to Nakano joining the club and band; she would join in late May 2009, a week after "Fuwafuwa Time" was released.

The musical style of Ho-kago Tea Time is primarily a blend of and with influences from , , and . The lyrics are mainly focused on lighthearted themes such as sweets, tea, and fun activities. All members share vocal duties, but the primary lead vocalists are Hirasawa and Akiyama. Tainaka, Kotobuki, and Nakano perform backing vocals, except "Honey sweet tea time" which features Kotobuki on lead vocals, and 天使にふれたよ! ("Tenshi ni Furetayo!") which features all members but Nakano on lead vocals. 放課後ティータイム is the only song thus far to feature all members performing main vocals. Akiyama is their lyricist and Kotobuki is their composer.
