Internet laws are different in every country. I only know about what they're like in my country. As far as sending me some music, I just checked what sizes can be emailed. I use Gmail and it allows 25 mb of attachments per email. I would assume most email providers are the same so a whole album can probably fit in 2 messages. It would be silly to send me something in real mail because it'd probably cost more money than its worth haha. I will send you my email address in a last.fm message (I don't want it out in the open). Send me whatever songs/albums you think I may enjoy!

Wait are you saying you pay for Piratebay? or you pay for some other site? and is it possible to send big files like an album via email?
Actions

SoundgardenmadA
No I don't pay. It's technically illegal but so is the record companies robbing us to get music we love! How would you send it to me?

I've been using the site Piratebay mainly. Sometimes I use Demonoid. I don't pay for music unless its an album that has some personal significance to me. Music is way overpriced and the people who profit from album sales most directly are record labels. I support music not the people who "manage" a band. So what I'm saying is until music becomes cheaper I'll continue downloading and not paying! You can recommend me the site where you find it and if that doesn't work you can send it to me.

I would try and download her music but I would have absolutely no idea where to do that. My normal sites are going to have any Serbian music haha. And since I can't read Serbian its gonna be hard to find her from another site I don't want to get a virus! But I did like it. I want to try and find at least one artist from every country to listen to. What better way to be worldly than listen to music from everywhere!

Well I just wanted to make sure you were understanding everything I was saying. And what you send to me all makes sense and looks like normal English! Those last links you sent me were much easier to listen to than the folk music and those links. I liked the Kovacs. Aleksandra has a better voice than Kristina though. Aleksandra Radovic had the best voice out of any of them but she kind of sounds half man/half woman haha. And Zdravko Colic didn't appeal to me. I don't like his singing style I guess. Some of those videos are so weird though!

Yeah go ahead and send it! Also I've been meaning to ask...are you understanding most of what I say well? I never asked how well you speak English haha!

Well I really didn't like any of those videos you sent me haha. All I learned is Serbians make the worst music videos! Some of it was alright I guess but nothing compared to what I normally listen to. I really do like some middle-eastern music though especially when tied in to western music. And I think its fine Adele won those awards. She can actually sing really well. Do I think there are musicians that deserved them more? Of course. There are so many great artists out there who don't even get to go to the Grammys because its a popularity and money contest. They need to have a music award for actual musical talent and merit.

Ok I can see why you like our music better hahaha! American Folk music is so different. But then again I think Folk always sounds different because its regionally based. Then I again I do hate a lot of American music too. 99% of the rap is awful, 95% of country music is bad, we have this growing techno phase (techno shouldn't even be considered music) and not to mention our countless pop stars who can't sing live because they rely on Autotune and computers to enhance their music. A large portion of the artists I listen to are from western Europe. The only ones that aren't are System of a Down (Armenia) and Orphaned Land (Isreal). Last night our Grammy awards were on and there really were not any good artists even there to win because its all about sales and making money and not making music.

Well I'm glad he likes my taste! Its constantly growing and evolving as I find more music and its changed as I've grown up and began to understand music more and more. What do people commonly listen to Serbia?

Dan Fogelberg is not that all well known even though he has like 5 platinum records. He's literally the best song writer to ever write music and died young from prostate cancer. But his music is absolutely fantastic and I hope you like it. And yes I do like Muse! I like all of their records. People always argue whether their early stuff or their new stuff is better but I like it all. The early stuff is better instrumentally but the new stuff is more harmonious and appealing to more people. They should be due to come out with a new album soon I would think its been 3 years.

Well its a shame you didn't like more =(. I had to try though at least. And Whitney Houston married a horrible person and developed a drug habit so its not surprising. She threw her career away 20 years ago. And I really am not fond of Kings of Leon. I just find them personally annoying...like the way they act lol. OK here's some serious recommendations like softer rock: Check out Blackfield (any of their 3 albums), Porcupine Tree (Lightbulb Sun or In Absentia are their two albums that aren't heavier) and most importantly Dan Fogelberg (get the album "The Innocent Age". Its the best written album ever made in all of music. Its 2 discs as well.)

Well I have a ton of different genres I could recommend but I'm curious if I could find some rock that you may like. Not all metal is super heavy music with screaming and not all rock is hard and rough sounding. Here's some videos let me know if you like any of them. If not I'll move past rock and give you some more realistic recommendations! Within Temptation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUuInD9HLaE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDJpf2mQ0w4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve2pS-jxXz0 Nightwish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdZn7k5rZLQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2sd8UMUaIk Kamelot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lecZ8UnsjLs&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F88G4itQyds Epica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfLtA8SkmVw Also Katie Melua is getting married so all my dreams are gone! haha!

Haha! Yeah people are stupid but thats people. They can't help but to be mindless. Back to music though I see you listen to mainly like pop, some jazzs, some country and some blues....would you be open to some different suggestions outside those genres? I promise no crazy screaming music or no crazy nonsense.

We do learn some about other countries in primary school but not much. Most of our school is about our country like you just said. The US does not have a very good education system. There are probably 15-20 countries that rank higher overall than us. In America they keep the rich on top and the poor impoverished and uneducated. War is more important than education here. My major in college is Environmental Geography so I learn about everywhere on earth =D

She didn't say anything bad about Serbia but then again she was talking to me. She did say several of her family members died over there. But many people in the US are separated from the rest of the world. I'd say 98% of Americans don't know where Serbia or Croatia is. Americans are more concerned at being racist and scared of middle-eastern people right now.

We actually didn't go in depth about anything today. I was actually sitting next to someone who was born in Croatia as we talked about this so that was a bit comical. We are going to talk more in depth about it when we cover the Balkans more but I'm sure nothing will be too negative. Bad stuff happened in the area though =/ so some bad things will come up.

There are some very beautiful places here, places that I love very much. Some places in my country are so beautiful words cannot describe them. I hate big cities and I hate how people ruin nature so it saddens me deeply to see what people do to the environment. Also today in my European Geography class we talked about Serbia!

Well I think most people in America have it OK. There are very rich people but many poor people. Overall people are really unhappy because our government does not work. We elect officials who don't listen to the people and our government does nothing beneficial for us. They just continuously argue and accomplish nothing. They will do everything possible to keep the poor down in the ground.

Well tennis in the United States isn't as popular as it is in other countries. Americans typically only like whoever is the most famous (meaning Nadal). But Djokovic has been doing so well recently he is getting more support here. My whole family roots for him and my little sister is crazy about him. If someone says something bad about him she will literally fight them.

I wanted to ask as well is Djokovic a really big deal in Serbia? Cause my whole family loves watching and rooting for him so I was curious if he is well loved there.

Like I said her voice isn't the strongest but her lyrics are very personal and it did get better with every album. I always start with listening to the most current album by a band because its where they ended up and odds are they got better.

Maria's albums get better as they go so if you don't like the first one try the latest 3 because they're better.

Well I listened to a few songs off their 2009 album. Its pretty light rock for my normal rock taste but I'm finding it to be agreeable. I'll definitely keep listening to it and see if it grows on me. I downloaded their entire discography =P

Ha I thought it was some guy or girl named Biffy Clyro! I gave them a quick listen and it sounded decent so I'm gonna download an album or two of theirs and give it a full listen =P

Maria Mena is from Norway (not a big music exporter). Her albums normally go #1 in Norway but no where else. She had one big song in the USA in 2004. Her music isn't jazz or blues like Katie's its more of a soft-pop. Her music is really emotional though and very very personal to her. I like it because its simple and shes not trying to be grande or anything. Shes just singing about her life so about half the songs are happy and half are sad.

No sadly =(. I only know of one other person who listens to Katie and that's because of me. Its also why I cant ever see her perform because she's not big here. Norah Jones is fairly popular here and she was even in a movie (My Blueberry Nights). Try listening to Maria Mena. Her voice isn't the strongest but her musical is very personal and emotionally strong.

I've never been there more because of a money/time issue. There are many great places to see in my country that would cost far less money than flying to Europe where many countries would be more expensive overall. American university is very expensive as well so until I finish paying that off (which won't be for quite a few years), I won't be able to see Europe. I also really want to see some other places like New Zealand and anywhere else I'd get the chance to see.

Its a pretty sad thing that most Americans won't learn another language. Most of us are forced to take it school but that is only a few years. I took 2 years of latin to improve my English and I have taken 5 years of Spanish and will be taking 2 more. Spanish is important in our country because we're being invaded basically from Mexico haha. But unfortunately no, I have never been to Serbia although I desperately would like to see it and much of Europe. I have only been to Canada though and well almost every state in the United States (remember my country is bigger than Europe! =P).

Well I'm always curious to know about other countries. I know in some of Europe like Germany they know how to speak English very well. If you didn't know in the United States we really do not know how to speak anything but English well. I have many relatives from Serbia but the ones I've talked to speak 5-7 languages so they are not good examples haha.

Yeah I actually know where Serbia is because my dad is from there! If she ever comes near where I live in the US I will definitely go see her. Her new album looks like it will be really good. She is using an entire orchestra on every song and performing live with the orchestra!

I saw your post on Katie Melua's page and I agree; she never comes anywhere but western Europe. She will come to the US occasionally but only do a few shows in the biggest cities =(
