Hello! sorry for the radio silence, not been on here in weeks. how is everything? still madly busy? & how were the gigs for ya? Nah, no indie for me, it's all been trance/dance and bad german industrial recently. guitars are right out :) loving Rex The Dog's album from this year, 'tis fun if you want something brainless and funky. Any highlights on your end?

Dept of Eagles are related to Grizzly Bear - I don't really get Grizzly Bear although I've tried. Dept of Eagles are like Grizzly Bear with songs I remember. They've done a couple of albums the most recent of which (Ear Park) is very addictive. Quiet, dense songs that creep up on you when you're least expecting them to.

Howdy! I've been similarly preoccupied, between non-stop busy and the shit new layout I've found less and less time for last.fm recently..! I've also developed a crippling addiction to trance, everything else apart from the odd EBM record has seriously fallen by the wayside. Oh dear. Keeping well though.. how bout yrself? How's life/music?

p.s. Marsheaux's latest album has a really cool cover of 'Regret' by New Order on it.

Alas no, I've been totally wiped out financially by various comedy/other gig tickets. Got an awesome autumn lineup coming up but there's so many bands I haven't seen (or saw longer ago than Low) that I dunno if they'll make it onto the calendar :( Still need to listen to that Fleet Foxes, had it lying around for awhile but been on a bleep/trance kick for weeks, indie's fallen by the wayside. Oh dear.

Hey, nice on the New Order! I thoroughly approve. You've got very Brian Wilsony taste. Fleet Foxes sound good. I've been trying to get into Elbow again for the umpteenth time, but meh, it ain't happening. I give up. Been listening to a lot of Brendan Canning this week. Trying to figure out another gig for which I want to fly trans-continental again

I liked the Fleet Foxes EP but haven't got around to listening to the album properly yet. I'm still smarting from not getting to their ULU gig - someone ordered me a ticket which arrived a week after the gig had already happening. I'm off to do a mammoth washing up session now (very rock and roll I know). I'll see if FF can see me through the general drudgery.

It's really dire. Usually I can get used to new things but they really did break a perfectly functional design. Am pretty good thanks, been busy listening to dodgy industrial and planning comedy/gig schedule for the autumn, some great stuff coming up! Und sie? Anything interesting catch your ear/eye recently?

not a lot, honestly! drink a lot, work dead end jobs, catch the odd gig. the music part is largely enough excitement for me :p pondering further studies myself but just drifting and consuming as many drugs/tunes as my schedule allows for the near future. s'all good. incidentally, I highly recommend Trifonic's 'Emergence' album - really good trip-hoppy chillout stuff from over the pond. :)

Aye, the summer pilgrimage to Germany is a yearly ritual.. although I'm not sure I'm gonna make it to both this year, but Amphi at least should be good. Got any others this year yourself?

Ah, sounds quality, that's a great line up. Really want to see the National live, although I hear they're pretty hit/miss. Glad to hear the field is awesome live too, I really like the album from last year so might have to check that out at the next opportunity.

Oh dear; worth it though? Who were the best bands of the weekend, and did you catch I&W in the end? I'm alright, off back home for the weekend, be a welcome break I think.

Picked up Cut Copy because I read how much they were loving Person Pitch by Panda Bear when they recorded it. However, doesn't sound like PB influenced them too much. I'm persevering but at the moment they sound like a poor man/wonan's (insert iconic 80s band with sequencers here). I'll let you know if it grows!

haha, sounds wicked. I'm pretty good - off to see Iron & Wine tomorrow then probably end up stoned as a mongoose, so it's like a miniature version of your weekend :p have fun!

Aw man (re: blog entry) you got a real set from Ulrich? I only didn't go 'cos he was down as DJ-only ): presumably got the proper version of 'Sugar Crystals' then? Rather jealous here.

Delerium's wicked, started off as pure ambient stuff but the last few records they got various guest singers in and wrote some great songs. Pretty hard to put how awesome they are into words, see if you can find 'Poem' or 'Karma' about (you'll prob recognise 'Silence' from the latter). Yeah not bad, just had a do nothing/music day which is always welcome, yourself?

On reflection, I'm seeing Delerium this Thursday so to actually answer your question, nah, they're my second-to-next gig. They are good though. God my memory is awful when I'm sober. (: were Airiel as awesome for you as everyone else is telling me they were? Gutted about that, hope they come back soon.

Move was alright actually; bit manic but got set up quicker than I expected. Nice and convenient for work etc being in London proper too so yeah, all good. That does sound interesting, will have to give it a listen when I'm able to download/borrow a copy.. 'til then I s'pose I'll have to stick to the Manics, ah well.
