hey jon hows things?? enjoy TCV?? Saw on your blog you went to see avatar, bit of a mind-fuck at first, the 3d, isn't it??? Gotta admit, made me abit quesy till i let myself and my eyes relax...... That bit where the main character touches those flowers, wasn't that a big trip with the 3d? The lights and stuff? very cool.... yeah it was a good movie....kind of weak movie once you stripped it of that, some parts very cliche... Anyways, hope the new year is goin good for ya - Uni is about to start in 3 weeks for me, can't wait.

I'm still trying to get my dad to let go of his Vinyl player. He's got a really good, old school sound system. Warfdale E50s with a Technics Amp i think, Technics Vinyl player and cassette player? He got it in the early 80's, before CD. It goes pretty damned hard. I find it funny, I walked into Real Groovy in Auckland( a local Record Store) and they have a table of vinyl players so you can listen to records to try before you buy. After all these years in possible advancements in vinyl players you think they'd have flash ones there, but no they got the exact model my dad has with his system. funny that huh? Anyways. Music-wise, im still as usual doing my connect the dots thing. Failure, Hum, Slo Burn(Garcias first post-kyuss effort), got a couple yardbirds albums, derek & the dominos, cream's first album...

So what do you do for a job? I see you got a online blog, pretty cool. I'd love to do some sort of music site sometime...mainly rock, alternative reviews and news etc. There are a few good websites out there that do that, but it's a shame and a sham that publications like Rolling Stone and NME command more respect from unknowing fans. Music should be about the Music and not the image of it, i feel that what it gives to us we should give back, create a environment of respect of musicians (more than a money or popularity tag that exists)

Well if you ever come across this side of the ditch for a holiday, lemme know and im sure we could have a few beers or something. Meeting new people and listening to music with beer can't be a bad thing... can it?

Totally agreed. I think give the journos a little bit longer and the reviews will prolly warm up. Btw i thought i'd ask you what your fave zep albums are, anyways. heh. Mine definately has to be Houses of the Holy, that's a really special album to me. Physical Graffiti a close second.

yeah, the difference between them and us is proper appreciation of music. They really need to understand that alot of things that musicians do are totally intentional, their sound etc. Comparing this to that is totally irrelevant....I see musicians, no matter what they've played in or which ever - when they come together and make music & jam - each member has their own little flavour or angle they add into the mix which makes for a unique sound. This is definately the case with TCV. It's lame and tbh just shitty journalism to say "Oh it had led zeppelin-like pounding rhythms" etc - - If they judged it on the merits of it's sound you can't deny it is fucking brill. They seem to think that because it didn't shatter perceptions of rock music like their previous bands have done that it doesn't have a point. HELLO? They came together to make music and have fun. That's how music is supposed to be.

Yeah, I can't believe how alot of the media are hating on it... The songs i knew would be awesome were just that (warsaw, daffodils, nobody loves me, elephants) - and there were a couple of suprises, namely Caligulove - its got this real groove to it, i like that clappy beat at the start - kind of a twisted Motown, what do you think? The only songs that didn't sound as good as they did live were the singles, just lacked a bit of oomph on the record, but i'd still call it a classic record. I'm hoping to goto the January concert too for here in NZ... I just recently moved to Auckland from Hawkes Bay for Uni and can't get a fucking job up here. Hoping my 60yr old dad will shout me tickets, hes also a muso(like me), loves his zeppelin... i'll buy him earplugs and panadol though. haha.

what do you think of TCV album? I think it's fucking brilliant. Maybe this was what Josh was talking about end of last year about the Desert Orgy in the Dark? Maybe he was wondering whether to keep it called qotsa if he got JPJ in?

ah yeah I had actually bought District Line a couple of weeks ago; it's really good, as is Very Temporary. The Silence Between Us is amazing though.
