Oh, I don't know, my life is sort of boring, mostly... work, reading, crochet, and Netflix in my free time, and an occasional show. Going to see Depeche Mode in a few days! What's up with you?

Ya know what... maybe that Forefather should count as 2011... North American release was in 2012, but I guess it first came out in Dec. 2011 in the UK so it probably shouldn't count. Oops. Oh well.

Wow, I need to check out some of the stuff on your list... not familiar with a few of those bands. I forgot about Hail Spirit Noir, I was really impressed when I first heard them but sort of forgot about them. Funny thing about the new Forest of Stars is that I absolutely fell in love with it upon the first listen, but really I didn't play it to death and I don't think I have listened to it since a month or so after it came out. But I listed it because what time I did listen to it I loved it so much. I guess that was sort of my main criteria for my fave's list, amount of spontaneous appreciation and enjoyment more than feeling compelled to frequently listen. Then there's WoY, it sort of fizzles out half way through, but I love the first some of the songs that much. New DCD was a grower though, my initial reaction was that it seemed too mature and subtle to live up to the old stuff, almost verging on boring, but later it just clicked, had it stuck in my head and started loving it.

Hey, sorry my reply had taken a while... it's pretty hard to narrow down the list, and different moods call for different tunes, but I would definitely put these among my overall favorites of the year: Enslaved- RIITIIR, A Forest of Stars- A Shadowplay for Yesterday, An Autumn for Crippled Children- Only The Ocean Knows, Forefather- Last of the Line, Anaal Nahtrakh - Vanitas, Dead Can Dance- Anastasis, The Great Old Ones - Al Azif, Woods of Ypres - Grey Skies and Electric Lights, Alcest - Les Voyages De L'Ame. Ok, now ... your turn!

Oh I know, I'm excited about new Drudkh and Les Discrets too! I've been in the mood for a lot of Swallow Sun, Edge of Sanity, and The Cure lately. I've been streaming the new Alcest a lot and Swallow the Sun is streaming Emerald Forest and the Blackbird until it comes out next week, I had to check that out, can't wait to get it! I'm not too into Ministry these days, and I honestly don't know if I have heard much of anything by Death in June, ever, so now I'm curious... thanks for recommending :)
