Francesco Gabbani (born 9 September 1982) is an Italian singer and songwriter, born in the Tuscan city of Carrara. He rose to fame after winning the newcomer's section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2016 with the song "Amen". The next year, he went on to win the main section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2017 with the song "Occidentali's Karma", and went on to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, finish 6th place in the final. He later returned to the Sanremo Music Festival in 2020 with the song "Viceversa", this time finishing second.
