Biography

Inverness, United Kingdom (1989 – 1997, 1998 – present)

Wolfstone is a Scottish musical group - formed in Inverness, Scotland in 1989 by fiddler Duncan Chisholm and guitarist/vocalist Stuart Eaglesham - which plays Highland music combined with rock and roll. The band’s repertoire consists of both original songs and traditional folk pieces. Wolfstone split in 1997 after much difficulty with its record label, but reformed in 1998 to fulfill its recording contract, and has subsequently continued. To date, they have released seven standard studio albums, the latest, Terra Firma, in 2007, along with two early recordings that the band ignore. Wolfstone record on their own label, Once Bitten Records, having parted ways with Green Linnet in 1999. The inspiration for the group’s name came from a wolf-carving on a stone standing in a field near to where the band initially recorded. Wolfstone’s website can be found at http://www.wolfstone.co.uk.

The first time I heard them was on the "Collection of celtic moods". Glenglass was one of the tracks on the CD. And that was about ten years ago. Got The Half Tail Lately and I'm loving it. Shame rarely anyone listens to folk nowadays...

I was at University with Duncan's brother Alan at St Andrews between 1984 - 1988, and met Duncan once or twice when he visited Alan. That must have been just before he kicked off the band. Good stuff on CD though I think seeing them live would be altogether better!

They play around Scotland now and again- i've seen them twice! They're awesome, and DC is an amazing fiddler. I think they're from where my folks live, Ardross type area!

My favourite song is Granny Hogg's Enormous Wallet, which can be found on the 1996 album `The Half Tail'.

Hehe, I gut sucked in by glenglass as well. The one I love most is The £10 Float though. You could stage a ballet based on it with a bunch of hairy men not wearing underwear and it would still be awesome ^^
