Biography

Founded in 2018 between Berlin and Paris, the Arnold String Trio is appearing as an intriguing ensemble in the european musical landscape.

Versatile musicians and laureats of prestigious competitions, the violinist Shuichi Okada, the violist Manuel Vioque-Judde and the cellist Bumjun Kim meet and immediatly grow a mutual respect and friendship during the Seiji Ozawa International Academy in Switzerland, coached by maestro Seiji Ozawa himself, Pamela Frank, Nobuko Imai and Sadao Harada.

The three musicians are actively playing both as solists and chamber musicians, regularly performing on stages mainly in Europe and in Asia: Victoria Hall in Geneva, Théâtre of Champs Elysée, Philharmonie and Salle Pleyel of Paris, Louis Vuitton foundation, Seoul Art Center, Philharmonie of Berlin, Philharmonie of Liège, BOZAR of Bruxelles, Schloss Elmau, Matsumoto Harmony Hall in Japan and also the Seiji Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood.

Usually associated as the philosophy for the string quartet, sound research for homogeneity as an ensemble and at the same time a clear diversity for the multiple roles of each intrument are an endless and exciting work the Arnold Trio decided to get into.

Recognized as one of the most promising European ensemble, the trio has already been heard on France Musique, Radio Classique, BBC Radio 3, the RTBF, and has also performed live for ARTE Concert and Medici TV.

The beginning of 2021 is marked by their first album, the whole Beethoven opus 9 with its 3 Trios, made with the label Mirare.

The Arnold String Trio is currently in residence at the Singer-Polignac foundation in Paris, and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.
