“Borderline” is the first single from the upcoming reissue of Tove Lo’s fifth studio album, Dirt Femme. Co-written with English singer Dua Lipa, and longtime collaborators Ludvig Söderberg and Jakob Jerlström (The Struts), it’s rumored that the track was intended to be included in the former's sophomore album Future Nostalgia, as well as in its reissue.

Its music video picks up right where the storyline in “No One Dies From Love” left off.

After the track was completely scrapped by Lipa, Tove Lo, in a first-time occurrence, decided to keep and release under her name a song originally intended for another artist that she had helped co-write, according to the singer.

On February 6, Tove Lo began the North American leg of her Dirt Femme Tour in Nashville, TN, where performed and debuted “Borderline.” The following day, she announced the release date of the song and shared that it was written during her first writing session with Dua Lipa.

On January 12, after spending the holidays in New Zealand, Tove Lo announced that she would be heading back to the U.S. to shoot a music video. Lo later responded to a fan asking for more details about the video in question that it was for a song that was coming “pretty soon” and is a “sequel” to something fans had already seen.
