The Czech Republic is hardly rock’ roll essentially. Nevertheless, the country shelters Minority Records, structure which, from here a few times, will be able to pride to have put the finger on the clandestine talent of Tall Ships.
With the prow of the ship, Steve Kuhn (song, guitar) and Kyle Conwell (low, song) proclaim only Masters on board. The battery sails as for it with Keith Andrew which is stuck to it. The Tall Ships thus. One crowned meets, a bath of the pop youth postmodern one.
Established in San Diego, the trio crosses iron (guitar, low, trumpet), in a landscape already outlined by the subtle monotonous chants of Pinback. More post-rock’n’roll that lo-fi, The Tall Ships digs a clear-sighted vein, cave of subjugated complex constructions to a sensitivity indie to flower the pop one. Enthusiastic partisan of the repetitive loops (“For Your Bird You Will Have No Other Model Than That of A Beats”, “Literate”), The Tall Ships also has fun well felt rhythmic alternations. The relative examinations which plunge, here and there, in the floods of Swell a craving posted for a controlled ardour succeeds, to carry to the sides of Death Cab For Cutie.
