The New Cars was an American group that was a reunion of some of the original members of The Cars, with Todd Rundgren on vocals (replacing Ric Ocasek). They released just one full album, titled 'It's Alive', which showcased a live show featuring classic tracks by The Cars as well as three brand new studio tracks. The work earned them critical acclaim from several publications.

  • Not sure how to feel about this. Rundgren doesn't do a bad job, but now that the actual band is back together this just seems like an unnecessary detour.

  • New Cars with old songs? LAME !! Why even bother? They could have just started a new band with Todd and wrote original material. Looks like it would have got equal exposure. (none) - E
  • Ric didn't want to participate, so the only other option was to replace Ocasek. All things considered, I'd rather hear The (New) Cars, with Rundgren, than not hear The Cars, at all. Outside of The New Cars, Rundgren's a top notch musician. I've got several of his solo records.
