Biography
There have been at least two groups which recorded as the Griffins: a doo-wop quintet from Washington, DC, and the Christchurch, New Zealand University band with their self released EP Eudaimonia (1991) , on which was their "hit" single "Evelyn".
The doo-wop Griffins recorded four singles, mostly on the Mercury label, between 1955 & '56 and backed up Marie Knight on her 1956 single As Long As I Love b/w Tell Me Why. They also recorded as the Warblers in 1973 & '74.
The line up for the original Griffins were:
William Ross (Lead)
Bill Alford (First Tenor)
Lewis "Flip" Thompson (Second Tenor)
Lawrence Tate (Baritone)
Joshua Bright (Bass)
