The Gloom in the Corner is a concept-driven metalcore band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. The band was formed in 2016 and currently comprises vocalist Mikey Arthur, guitarists Matt Stevens and Martin Wood, bassist Paul Musolino, and drummer Nic Harberle. Former members include guitarist Jaya Wirawan and bassist Michael Vallerant.
Since their inception, The Gloom in the Corner has garnered attention for their unique approach to music. Describing themselves as a cinematic metalcore act, they blend metalcore elements with theatrical concepts, creating a distinct and immersive musical experience. The band's self-proclaimed genre, "Cinemacore," aptly captures the fusion of aggressive instrumentation and dramatic storytelling.
In 2016, they released their debut album, "Fear Me," which served as the starting point for their narrative-driven approach. The album marked the beginning of the Fear Me Arc, a series of interconnected stories conveyed through their lyrics.
Building upon their earlier works, The Gloom in the Corner embarked on their next era with the release of "Trinity" in 2022. It continues the ongoing storyline established in their previous EPs.
Frontman Mikey Arthur is employing a range of vocal styles to embody different characters within The Gloom in the Corner's self-created "Gloom Cinematic Universe." Additionally, "Trinity" features notable guest vocalists from the metalcore scene, contributing their unique voices to various tracks and adding further depth to the band's storytelling.
