Biography
The Familiar Strange is an electronic project based outta Northern New Jersey. The main brains behind this operation is Mic Machete musician/mc/producer and music enthusiast. He has more than one page under this name due to his random inspirations. "If you see that I have a sh#@-load of pages then don't be surprised. I always end up having to contend with the many producer voices in my head."
His/their music is a blend of Electronic, Downtempo, Chill-out, and Hip-Hop. Mic Machete's lyrical content comes out as very introspective, adventurous and thoughtful which is synonymous with his beat-making/production. His songs make you want to look inward. He sites Arrested Development, Erykah Badu, Tricky, Blackalicious, Incubus, and the Gorillaz as some of his major musical influences
Mic's musical journey began in 2000 when he started exploring writing raps with his friends as a joke. Some time after these basement joke raps he began to have an epiphany that this would be the thing he would do with his life growing up. Having an interest in different kinds of music, he experimented with horrorcore of the early 90's and rapcore. Since then he has furthered his education, picked up bass guitar jammed with fellow musician friends and immersed himself in beat-making. Currently He is putting together an E.P. that is expected to be released in the next few months.
