Biography
The Conspirators was a British five-piece folk-rock band founded in 2006 by musicians from the North Yorkshire area. The band Members were: John Gillies - Guitar, Vocals, Genevieve Parker - Vocals, Darren Banner - Guitar, Mike Cinnamond - Bass, Laura Goodacre - Drums and Percussion. Guitarist/vocalist John Gillies and lead singer Genevieve Gillies went on to form The Doubtful Bottle
In 2008, the band released a double A-side single featuring Judy Dyble (original Fairport Convention vocalist) as The Conspirators with Judy Dyble. The single featured a remake of Fairport Convention's "One Sure Thing" and The Conspirators song "Take Me To Your Leader". It reached No.7 in the official UK indie singles chart, spending three weeks in the top 10.
In 2012 Conspirators released their debut album "What's Going On". The album featured guest performances from Dodgy lead guitarist Andy Miller, as well as Echobelly's Glenn Johansson.
As of 2018, guitarist/vocalist John Gillies and lead singer Genevieve Gillies went on to form The Doubtful Bottle
