Biography

After graduating college from Penn State University, T.J. Cornwall decided the corporate world was not for him. Not phased by the mass amounts of independent musicians worldwide, Cornwall jumped into the music industry head first and has not turned back since. Referred to as the "John Mayer of Pittsburgh" by Pitt-News, Cornwall blends honest lyric styles like Mayer with a raw yet powerful musical sound like Damien Rice or Jeff Buckley. Cornwall "has a conversational style of address that makes listeners feel like they are sitting alone with him in the recording booth." - Lori False, Centre Daily Times.

Cornwall is releasing a highly anticipated full-length album entitled Stepping Stones on 09.09.09. He wrote and performed every instrument leaving the album with an organic and intimate feel. Songs such as "World You Drew," "Wonderful," "Why Worry?" and "Be There" are pop-rock songs that can be loved by anyone in between teenagers and grandparents. Cornwall taps into his love for blues with the gritty, yet catchy, songs such as "Fuel The Fire," "Bulletproof," and "Parasites" with a certain charisma similar to Alanis Morissette as he rages about past relationship experiences but includes a positive "you can't bring me down" message in the lyrics. Cornwall's most powerful and influential song on the album, "War and Peace," is written about slavery but twists the message onto society as a whole needing to give back to the needy whenever possible. Cornwall plans to donate a percentage of his profits from the album to an organization called Kiva which specializes in helping entrepreneurs in lesser developed countries start their businesses.

Cornwall sets himself apart from other independent artists and bands due to his relationship with his fans.  With the music already being there, Cornwall believes having a sincere connection with his fans is most important in being successful on a long term basis.  Cornwall promises his fans that he will continue to make music as long as they continue to listen to it and knows that he would be nowhere if it was not for their die hard love and support.
