Stanisław (Staś) Drzewiecki, 20, is a Polish concert pianist born in 1987 in Moscow. He learned to play the piano when he was four years old and performed for his first concert audience at six. At ten, he recorded his first CD of Mozart and Beethoven concertos. His recent recordings with the Symphony orchestra of Warsaw are based on Chopin concertos (his mother, Tatiana Shebanova, won 2nd Prize at the 10th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, 1980). Already possessing many prestigious awards in his precocious talent, he is prize winner to the Eurovision Grand Prix, 1999, in Alicante, and the 10th Eurovision Grand Prix of young musicians, 2000, in Bergen. He now continues to tour internationally, particularly in Asia and most prominently in Japan. A sensitive musician known to quibble over the sustain of the pedal, he continually moves audiences with his technical brilliance and emotional novelty.
