Speed – White Love
Biography
There is more than one artist with this name:
1) SPEED is a female japanese pop group consisting of four members: Hiro (Hiroko Shimabukuro), 今井絵理子 (Eriko Imai, also known as Elly), 上原多香子 (Takako Uehara), and 仁絵 (Hitoe Arakaki.) When the group formed they scored the record for the lowest average age for a group (13 and a half years old) which was later broken by several younger groups in the early 00’s. SPEED’s two primary vocalists are Hiro and 今井絵理子.
Since their debut in 1996 with the single “Body & Soul”, they have won multiple Japan Gold Disk Awards such as New Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
The group disbanded in early 2000, much to the displeasure of their fans, with each of the members pursuing solo projects (most notably Hiro). Speed did reunite temporarily in 2001 to release “One More Dream” and in 2003 to release new works as part of the “Save the Children” charity project.
On August 20, 2008 SPEED reunited after a 8 year hiatus. Their 1st appearance after 5 years was on the 24 hour charity program on August 31, 2008.
2) SPEED is a male group from South Korea. They are a sub-unit of the 11-membered group Co-Ed School, formed in 2010 by Core Contents Media. SPEED makes up the male members of Co-Ed School and released their first song Lovey Dovey Plus, a remake to T-ara’s popular song Lovey Dovey, in early 2012.
3) Speed was a short-lived new wave of british heavy metal band headed by “Bruce Bruce” (Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden fame) with Steve Adams (guitar), Paul White (bass), Gary Edwards (keyboards) and Jeff Moody (drums) . The single “Man in the Street” was posthumously released after Dickinson left the band in 1980.
