Biography

There are at least four artists which have used the name Slam:
1. An underground electronica duo from Scotland
2. A punk rock band from Sweden
3. A hardcore punk band from the United States
4. A eurodance group from Germany

1. Slam is Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle. Synonymous with Glasgow’s underground club scene and their sound-searching record label, soma, the duo have garnered a reputation as international DJs, accomplished recording artists and respected collaborators.

2. Slam from Sweden was formed in 1982 by 5 skaters who shared a common music interest, but with none or little band experience. They started as Destroy with their first gig at Paletten Sätra, after rehearsing only for some weeks.About a year later their first recording released as a tape in January 1983.They were active playing most local and national gigs. Their records were on their own label and sold by independent distributors all over.Their first full length album came in 1984 called Ingens Slav.In 1985 they appeared on and had the title track for the american skate magazine Thrasher…s skaterock vol.3 compilation “Wild Riders of Boards”. Same year they were also participating on the compilation of european punk bands called “Chaos in Europe”, on the French New Rose label.The year after they got the chance to have an album released by US company Subcore Records “The End of Laughter” and to do a two month US tour, which resulted in 27 shows at various venues which made them play together with such acts as Circle Jerks, Gang Green, JFA, SNFU, Instigators, DRI, Saint Vitus and many more.
