Skeletonwitch is a blackened thrash metal band with death metal elements formed in 2003. The band formed in Athens, Ohio by Nate Garnette (Guitar), Scott Hedrick (Guitar),Chance Garnette (Vocals), Evan Linger (Bass), Derick Nau (Drums). In 2011, Derrick Nau left the band, replaced by Dustin Boltjes.
They released their first full-length album “At One With The Shadows” in 2004 by Shredded Records. Which blended black metal with Thrash metal and elements of harsh death metal swell, into their straight-forward dimension music style.
The band then released a quick fiery demo in 2004 and then released an EP “Worship the Witch” in 2005, both of which were self-released due to the failed Shredded Records. This lead to a lot of interest with fan and labels, with their new matured style.
They finally, ended up signing with Prosthetic Records and with them released “Beyond the Permafrost” in 2007. In 2009 “Breathing the Fire” was released. Most recently, the band has released it’s 3rd album on Prosthetic, “Forever Abomination”.

I don't think Nifelheim and Skeletonwitch can really be compared in terms of the "fun factor". I think Skeletonwitch are a more fun band than Nifelheim, which is neither a good nor bad thing. Nifelheim are more aggressive, but that doesn't make them better either. They're both fucking great bands in their own right. End of.
