Susan Janet Ballion, professionally known as Siouxsie Sioux, is a British singer and lyricist born in London on May 27, 1957. Before she started her solo career in 2004, Siouxsie was the lead singer of the influential band Siouxsie and the Banshees and its splinter group The Creatures. She has also collaborated with Morrissey and John Cale.
In the last 15 years, Siouxsie’s songs have been covered by LCD Soundsystem (“Slowdive”), Massive Attack (“Metal Postcard” sampled on “Superpredators”), Jeff Buckley (“Killing Time”), Tricky (“Tattoo”) and DeVotchKa (“The Last Beat Of My Heart”).
Siouxsie has also been cited as reference by various important artists like Garbage (Shirley Manson’s favourite singer), Johnny Marr fromThe Smiths, Radiohead and PJ Harvey…
Solo Career
In the middle of the 1990s, Siouxsie started to make one-off collaborations with other artists :
* In 1994, Morrissey asked her to record a duet : they both sang on the single Interlude, a song initially recorded by Timi Yuro, a female torch singer of the sixties.
*In 1995, Siouxsie recorded with the compositor Hector Zazou the track
the lighthouse : The Chansons Des Mers Froides album also included one-off performances from Bjork and John Cale.
* In 1999, after releasing the critically acclaimed Anima Animus of her second band The Creatures, a cd that PJ Harvey put on her website in her top 10 favourite records of 1999, Siouxsie sang one number “Threat Of Love” with her friend Marc Almond on his Open All Night’cd.
* In 2003, Siouxsie was asked to compose and singCish Cash, the title track to Basement Jaxx’s album Kish Kash. The record was a hit and received a Grammy award.

It bothers me that Siouxsie has been insulted with the stereotype, Goth; that is just being lazy. Looking at Siouxsie, how she has successfully transformed her image through these past thirty years, it could only be described as pure brilliance. Siouxsie has never been a depressing performer, Banshees’ and Creatures’ music has never been depressing, their music soars with energetic dance tunes, that are often easy to sing along with. If one prefers to classify Siouxsie under a stereotype, one should start off with Glam/ Glam-Rocker.

Love this album, its so siouxsie, but also very modern, until i started listening to her more, i.e her bands etc, this is the first album i bought of her after hearing the song "face to face" on batman, and thinking "I love how weird this song sounds, i better check this out".
