Shiva Subcontractor is the newest project from Cyril of WaterJuice fame and Jovis, performer extraordinaire. These chaps are San Francisco psy-scene refugees that have moved towards concept-driven music. It's deep and driving but not just in the beats: Shiva Subcontractor remarries the the bass with the rhythm with heavy didgeridoo that's been warped and modified. Did we mention the mouth harp? Who ever thought that didg and mouth harp could be made to sound so psychedelic?
