  • Founded In

Birmingham, West Midlands, England, United Kingdom

Sentenced originally formed in 1989 in Muhos as a death metal band. The Finland native band produced their first album "Shadows Of The Past" in 1991 with the singer/guitarist Miika Tenkula. The next two albums "North From Here" and "Amok" and the following EP Love And Death had bassist Taneli Jarva as singer, but in 1995 Taneli decided to take a few years off to rest before starting a new band, Black League.

Some time after Jarva´s departure Sentenced recruited the amazing Ville Laihiala in 1996 and put out the album "Down". Taneli's deep rumpling voice was replaced by Ville's warm and clear delivery. The dark-maned Finn immediately put his own touch to the new melancholic and pain-ridden songs. The band kept a good record by putting out an album every 2 years. Following "Down" in 1996 came "Frozen", "Crimson", "The Cold White Light", and finally their last album "The Funeral Album". The band had a stretch of 16 years producing incredible music together. Sentenced decided to lay the band to rest with the final album in 2005. There's no words that can describe how Sentenced finish at the peek of their career with "The Funeral Album", This album gives a taste from all eras throughout Sentenceds brief but amazing life.

RIP Sentenced
