Some songs are strange at least. I've learned to accept Maria Maria but Do You Like the Way still stinks for me.

i wanted to check this album's page because i suddenly had the sensation that if i did, i'd find at least a few comments trying to diminish the quality of this great album because it's more commercial than his earlier records. i was not wrong. i can kind of understand the point, but this album is still amazing

It's really not that good of an album. Overly produced, sounds so generic and stripped of the soul that his earlier stuff had. Gone is the latin flare that makes you want to dance, not to mention the latin jazz jams, and in are the worldly sounds to appeal to as many demographics as possible, with Dave Matthews for the white crowd and some hip hop thrown in the mix for the blacks. If you love this you should listen to his first albums where it's less polished to the point of losing its roots, more unpredictable, and more organic than this album that tries so damn hard to appeal to the masses [2].

it's a "comeback" album, so of course they were trying to appeal to everyone. But I see what you mean, it's to commercial and sacrifices the magic he had you know.

The album sold more than 30 million copies. 30 million buyers can't be wrong.

Agreed. Shame that this full disco Santana album won every awards while his best albums have not won any prizes at the beginning of his career.

Much, much better than anything he's done since, but this still can't compare to the late 60s and 70s material.

Why is Smooth (the top hit from this album) with such a low amount of listeners? Crap tags I guess. Superb album breakthrough from Santana!

I'm more fan of the Woodstock era Santana, but this albums is really great and Carlos is just fine.

Not really into this anymore, but the Santana tour of this album was my first "real" gig so good times :)

Love this one. I just got the new Santana album “Guitar Heaven.” It’s a really cool concept album of him playing some of the all time best guitar songs with artists including Rob Thomas, India.Arie & Yo-Yo Ma, Nas, and Johhny Lang. Check it out.
