Biography

Latest album, Intense Sense of Permanence available for FREE DOWNLOAD here; http://philgabriel.bandcamp.com/

From his first guitar strums as a boy in Crumley to the present day, Phil Gabriel has been on a voyage in his life and music career few would see through, or indeed survive. His ponderings became song, his ponderings can be dark, but the songs shine with hope. He crashed onto the scene with his debut, "Squander Everything", earthy yet futuristic. He cares about you because the things that irk you irk Phil Gabriel also. Over time Phil's elaborate stage shows and enigmatic presence became renowned. Do you remember the inflatable brain with tank tracks and cannon wowing concert goers during the "Think Tank World Tour"? What about the forest setting complete with real wildlife that adorned the stage during the tour for "Magician"? One thing you cannot possibly forget is the music. Phil Gabriel's sound is hard to pin down. Always emotive like Big Country, always insightful like Bruce Springsteen. The rollicking strut of "Danger" - the title track from the album of the same name - swaggers like a dangerous man singing about a dangerous woman. It's this flirtation with danger that lead to the debated genius of "Abomination", and the undisputed comeback brilliance of the more delicate yet durable "Intense Sense of Permanence", an album of the times that could have been written any time, today.
