Biography

Four years on the road now and hard work is paying off !
Here is the story in a nutshell, so far.

Phil Bee and the Buzztones started out in march 2004 as a five-piece-Bluesband with the classical line-up - drums, bass, leadguitar, keyboards and vocals/rhythm guitar. All experienced Dutch blues musicians (check -Buzzers- in the menu). On the strength of their first demo-CD Blues with a buzz (recorded at Carlo de Wijs Organasty-studio) the band got its first gig - at the world famous North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague (NL)!

After that, lots of gigs at festivals, radiostations and in clubs all over the Benelux and Germany followed (Bluesfestival Delft, Bluesfestival Utrecht, Blues&Rootsfestival Oosterhout, Bluesfestival Eindhoven, Parkfeesten Venlo - to name a few), and the Buzztones soon gained themselves a reputation as an outstanding live-act.

Thanks to a distinctive bandsound, one of the best singers in the Dutch Bluescircuit and repertoire of mostly self-penned songs the Buzztones got themselves another famous gig - in may 2005 they were the only Bluesband from the Benelux at the Moulin Blues Festival in Ospel, the biggest Blues-event in the Netherlands. Together with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Harman, Walter Trout etc. Fans and critics alike were enthusiastic over their performance, and music magazine OOR wrote: …steady swingblues, which brought the crowd up on its feet. Once again the Buzztones showed why they were booked for the North Sea Jazzfest a year before. And Muzikantenweb wrote: They band proved that Blues from the Netherlands can stand up to the international scene.

Chicago Blues, Swing, Shuffles, Soulsongs which sound like they come right out of Detroit, lots of outstanding own material and a stage presence to match - no matter if you are a club owner, festival organizer or just an enthusiastic Bluesfan: Watch out for Phil Bee and the Buzztones!

May 2006 their debut album It´s Alright was released on the dynamic Inbetweens Records label. 12 self penned songs, plus 1 traditional. Typical Buzztone grooves, guaranteed to satisfy your blues soul. One more time the Buzztones played the Moulin Blues Festival, now to launch their CD. This year sharing the stage with a.o. Robert Cray, Susan Tedeschi, Kid Ramos to name a few.

Guests on the album no one less than dutch pride on guitar, Jan Akkerman (Focus) and the Buzzy Horns, to spice up the sauce.

2007 has been the year of the UK gig in Linton and many outstanding bluesfestivals. The press reviews about the gigs are unanymous, the Buzztones are one of the leading bluesbands in the Netherlands.

2008 : The Buzztones will feature at prominent festivals, Delft, SBN Heerlen, SR&BB Breda, Kwadendamme, to name a few. A live CD will be released in the summer of this year, guests Ian Seagal and -Big Blind- Wesley.
