I was just thirty-four years old
And I was still wandering in a haze
I was wondering why everyone I met
Seemed like they were lost in a maze

When I was fourteen and first heard this, I just thought it was a really cool song. Now I'm fourty-four and can personally relate. You can't pretend that growing older never hurts.

you were a teenager too once, and probably didn't understand your parents music whether it was fats waller or frank sinatara or stravinsky....either way no all teenagers listen to whats popular this week...

This is what "older people" music is all about it, eh? Meant in the best sense. I doubt too many teenagers can relate.

When I first heard this, the chord behind the line "the incense burned away" went through me like a spear. I mean in a good way. The chord and the lyrical melody together make something really intensely beautiful.

Brilliant drumming from Mark Brzezicki, the drummer from Big Country.
