Nicole Henry’s beautiful and distinctive voice continues to gain fans around the world. She has been awarded “Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005” and “Best New Jazz Artist of 2004” by HMV/Japan, sharing their annual awards with other renowned artists such as Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Jane Monheit and Joshua Redman. The Nearness of You, her debut CD released in 2004 for the U.S. and Japan, ranked #2 on HMV’s Jazz Charts in Japan, second only to Norah Jones, and remained in the TOP 10 for over three months. It also reached #27 on the JazzWeek U.S. radio charts. Her March 2005 CD project with the Eddie Higgins Trio, Teach Me Tonight, was released in Japan and Korea and spent three weeks at #1 on the HMV Jazz Charts, 11 weeks in the Top 10.

Henry’s voice “aims for the emotional center” as she commands and captures the complete attention of the audience, telling real stories while also bringing a sense of ‘joie de vivre.’ She’s performed at the Rainbow Room with the Cab Calloway Orchestra, and the Lincoln Center with the Juilliard Jazz Octet; at jazz festivals including the 2006 Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival; for the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh; at jazz clubs such as The Dakota in Minneapolis and Arturo Sandoval’s Jazz Club in Miami; throughout central Mexico with her tribute concert to Billie Holiday; for senators and congressional representatives
