Seattle, United States (1990 – present)

Nevermore is an American band from Seattle, Washington. Their precise musical style is debated by fans and critics alike. The band incorporates elements from styles such as Doom, Thrash, Power, and into their songs, and also makes use of acoustic guitars and a wide range of vocal styles.

They started in the beginning of the 1990s, when the band Sanctuary was pressured by its recording label to change its musical style, switching from heavy metal to grunge, which was obtaining mainstream success at the time due to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Two members of the band, vocalist Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard, didn’t agree with the change and thus proceeded to create a project of their own. Nevermore.

By the end of 1994, the band assumed a stable line-up, which saw the additions of drummer Van Williams and former Sanctuary touring guitarist Jeff Loomis . In 1995 Nevermore released its first, self-titled, album through Century Media Records. This album received much attention and specialized review, as its release was followed by an European tour with Blind Guardian and a North American tour with Death, both internationally-renowned bands.

Second guitarist Pat O’Brien joined the band prior to the release of the “In Memory” EP, and also took part in the recording of the subsequent album “The Politics Of Ecstasy”, both from 1996. O’Brien left Nevermore to play in Cannibal Corpse, and guitarist Tim Calvert, who had previously contributed to Nevermore through songwriting, replaced O’Brien as Nevermore’s guitarist.

Its either Dreaming Neon Black or This Godless Endeavor for me, they both had a sleek and dark atmosphere. I thought their latest album was lacking in places.

What I find the most likely options: Nevermore will never bring out a new album > Jeff Loomis will join Nevermore again in a few years > A new guitarist and songwriter joins Nevermore.

That is al personal, personally I think TGE isn't that great. Even during the live concert those songs did not impress me, but for sure I will give it another change in the coming weeks. I would just not give up on a new guitar player/composer, you never if they might surprise you. I hope they will surprise me.

I hope they don't continue. Leave the legacy as is. [3] Also TGE > all

But it won't keep coming since Jeff was the main composer, so it probably wouldn't even sound like Nevermore and surely wouldn't be as good. Btw I can't comprehend how any Nevermore fan could be dissapointed by a masterpiece like TGE...

Good music is good music in whatever incarnation. As long as the good music keeps coming, make another record...

Actually both Dead Heart and Goddless were dissapointing for me. If it wasn't for the sound of Enemies of Reality, that might have been one of my favourites.

Also, MEGA SHITTY about the "break up." I hope they don't continue. Leave the legacy as is.

Chuck originally wanted Warrel to sing for Control Denied, but due to scheduling it didn't happen. Worked out for the best I think. Control Denied is perfect as is, and I think it would have sounded too similar to Nevermore. Also, agree with Godless being their last great album. Prior to that, Politics was. EASILY.

v U serious? I think they sound very different. Control Denied has another sound, uses other guitar techniques, has far more changes of pace, is more bass-focussed and all. Only the vocal style is somehow similar.

Both albums are good, as quite honestly, is most of their Discography. even TOC deserves more credit than it gets.

''Dead Heart in a Dead World was their last masterpiece.'' No, dead heart fanboys just fuck off, This Godless Endeavor is far superior [2] Like both albums, but This Godless Endeavor is more "hard" to understand :). Is more adult album.
