Biography

Mizuki Watanabe (渡辺 みづき Watanabe Mizuki?, born March 6, 1981 in Kitami, Hokkaidō, Japan), better known simply as Miz, is a Japanese pop/rock singer. Though most of her music is released in Japan, she does her work primarily from Gotland, Sweden, mainly doing promotional videos, photo shoots, and recording there.

At a very young age, Miz expressed a great interest and talent in music. She always wanted to become one of the singers on the radio, but living in such a rural area as Hokkaidō, there were very few opportunities for her. One of Miz’s biggest hobbies during her high school years was going to a local beauty salon. And since she was a regular customer, she became very good friends with the salon manager.
At this time there was held a talent competition, with advertising posters put up in over 20,000 beauty salons all over Japan. The salon owner suggested that Miz enter the contest, which she won ahead of hundreds of other competitors.
After graduating high school, she moved to Tokyo. Soon afterward, she was signed under Universal Victor and, under her real name, released I WILL, her debut single. Following that, she also released another single called Ambition, but she wasn’t asked to release anything else after that. Both singles are now out of print in most Japanese CD stores.

    Ahh, set Winamp to random and it came up with Say It's Forever. Awesome, really brings me back to 2004. What's she up to now? I found a blog in Japanese where she still seems to be keeping herself busy but I don't see very many new releases?

    Miss her so much. She's one of my fave rock artists~ I love her image, her fluent English, and her music! I LOVE her album "Mizrock" and "Goodbye Yesterday". When'll she be back?

    "Say it's forever" was one of the first Jpop CD's I ever bought back then. I'm just getting back into her music right now. A shame she never made it big. Wish her the best for whatever she's doing now.

    Her website is now the homepage for some kind of... shampoo o.O I hope that she continues on with her music career and releases something new soon. She's just way too talented. Her songs are great and I'd hate to see that go down the drain. That said, I'm really hoping for her to release a new album this year, but we'll see what happens I suppose.

    She's holding two One Man Live shows Dec 17&18, in case anyone is able to go. It's good to know she is still doing things, but I bet her record company is using these two concerts as judgment for what they will do with her in the near future.
