Biography
Man’s Gin began in 2005 as a Colorado two-man band, consisting of Erik Wunder and blues guitarist Clint Kamerzell. The focus was on the interaction of voice and guitars and building big songs on simplistic platforms. “The Rum Demos” was recorded in a Fort Collins basement in the winter months of 2006, receiving great praise and recognition in certain circles of the local Colorado underground scene where the duo would consistently play gigs at local bars, basements, and even rooftops.
Original member Clint Kamerzell left Colorado in early 2009, and Erik Wunder would see the release of Cobalt’s “Gin”. Erik would then tour Europe as touring drummer for Atlanta-based avant-garde musician JARBOE (formerly of SWANS) and relocate himself to Brooklyn, NY where Wunder now lives and where new music is coming out of the woodwork. With Josh Lazano on upright-bass and guitar, along with the influence of big ideals and triumph through inevitable struggle, Man's Gin is in full swing with new elements in the mix and an upcoming full-length album on Profound Lore Records. The atmosphere and vibe of Man’s Gin will be quite special; almost like the audial scenario of an old empty apartment where only bad memories linger, haunting like the restless ghosts of the past. Phenomenal guitarist/pianist Scott Edwards is now also affecting the new direction, with the raw experience of survival in a place like Brooklyn. Influences are abundant, ranging from The Doors, Johnny Cash, Soundgarden, Swans, Nick Cave, Deadboy and the Elephantmen, Alice in Chains, and Tom Waits.
