Biography

(Note: There’s only one band called Lotus Eaters, which is the experimental ambient group fronted by Aaron Turner, SOMA and James Plotkin. For the new wave group, please see The Lotus Eaters.)

Lotus Eaters is an experimental group which features Aaron Turner (Hydra Head Records, Isis, Old Man Gloom, House of Low Culture), Stephen O’Malley (Sunn O)))), Khanate, Burning Witch), and James Plotkin (Atomsmasher, O.L.D.).

Their first release was a very limited edition LP/CD-R called Alienist on a Pale Horse, released by Double H Noise Industries. They later released a CD called Mind Control for Infants on Neurot Recordings, an untitled 7” on Drone Records from Germany, and a very limited self-released CD-R called 4 Demonstrations. Their latest album is a CD released in mid-2007 on Troubleman Unlimited named Wurmwulv. “Mind Control for Infants” was expanded, remixed and reissued on 2xLP in November 2009 via TAIGA records of Minneapolis.

    Well maybe the Lotus Eaters and The Lotus Eaters both got the inspiration for their band name from the Dead Can Dance track The Lotus Eaters. %)

    is it me or is this all one big fail? all the songs are wrong right? i mean, i have a very hard time seeing that the creator of sunn o))) and khanate would make 80s pop. and why is this band part of 'the eighties habit' group? i know theyve been mixed up with another band, i just dont see why the description describes the band i was looking for and the songs are from another band... last.fm moderators come help plx?

    I seen these guys at an old stock car stadium in my hometown (KIrkby) Liverpool. They got pelted with cans, bottles, you name it. I was going mad because i loved this song, and i did feel really sorry for them being bombarded by these idiots. This song has real magic vibes for me though, at a great age in my life, makes me feel really good when i hear it now! superb!

    Some confusion here! The Lotus eaters and Lotus Eaters is not the same group nota bene! The first is a doom ambient group the other is a gaypopgroup!
